Dark Star Quantum Lab Expands Advisory Team with addition of Professor Ernesto Damiani. The group says this move deepens the scientific bench at the growing quantum technology start-up.

Damiani is Senior Director of the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Institute and Centre on Cyber-Physical Systems, Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE; and Professor of Electrical Engineering and computer science at the University of Milan, Italy, where he leads the Secure Service-oriented Architectures Research (SESAR) Lab.

“The appointment of Professor Damiani brings to Dark Star a senior talent in innovation in the areas of robotics, AI, and computer science. Damiani enhances Dark Star’s scientific skill for advancing our Quantum City project vision.”

He holds visiting positions at Tokyo Denki University, and University de Bourgogne. Damiani received an honorary doctorate from Institut National des Sciences Appliquees de Lyon, France (2017). His research spans security, Big Data and knowledge processing, where he has published over 400 peer-reviewed articles and books. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Distinguished Scientist of Association for Computing Machinery (ACM).

Since 2018, he has served as the president of the Italian Inter-University Consortium for Informatics (CINI). The CINI Consortium involves 1,500+ professors and researchers of Computer Science and Computer Engineering belonging to 47 Universities. In strict cooperation with the Italian scientific communities, the Consortium promotes and coordinates foundational and applied research as well as technological transfer in all fields of Computer Science and Computer Engineering.

Professor Damiani re-unites with Dark Star Chief Science Advisor Dr. Khan since Dr. Khan served as the Principle Investigator in the Khalifa University Centre on Cyber-Physical Systems, funded to run an AED 2.2M quantum communication technology project titled “Towards a Quantum Safe Security Infrastructure“. This project is the foundation of Dark Star Quantum Smart City, a Smart City in the U.S.A. enhanced with quantum technology.

“The appointment of Professor Damiani brings to Dark Star a senior talent in innovation in the areas of robotics, AI, and computer science. Damiani enhances Dark Star’s scientific skill for advancing our Quantum City project vision.” said Dark Star CEO David Wilkinson.
