About the Role:
With a demand to push our research, knowledge and products, CQC are searching for someone with experience in managing teams, collaborators and projects, therefore CQC are pleased to announce their new role, Quantum Software – Scientific Manager to join the team.
This is a role with a lot of variety and key to the functioning of the business. Firstly, you will be a senior support and confidante to the Head of Quantum Software in managing the division, giving your input into the technical and commercial direction. You will use your knowledge and experience to advise the executive team and technical staff and express leadership with decision.
Secondly, you will have the opportunity to help implement best practice project management techniques to shape and drive projects through their full lifecycle, balancing resource and capability requirements. You will have responsibility for managing and executing various scientific software and commercial initiatives and administration. You will also become the first point of contact to all other business unit heads.
CQC participates in collaboration projects and partnerships with various institutions, such as universities and government agencies, which can involve grants, funding and other incentives. The Quantum Software – Scientific Manager will have ownership of managing and reporting these agreements, including writing proposals, managing budgets and managing relationships.
Finally this role will require passion for investing in the team, providing leadership, support and guidance when required. You will be driver in the team’s learning and development, through regular check-ins, feedback and coaching and you will be a key player in improving the performance and capability of the team. You will also be active in hiring new talent, working with our wonderful HR team to manage the recruitment, selection and onboarding of new team members.
As this role is a senior yet technical role so we would require you to have an MSc or a PhD in science, mathematics or engineering and knowledge of quantum computers and associated software. We would also like you to have management experience in a scientific / deep tech role, having led and developed technical teams remotely using various collaboration tools (e.g. Zoom, Slack, Trello, Jira, Confluence). Proficient understanding of agile and software development lifecycles and projects is also important and being an excellent communicator, a problem solver and a ‘get things done’ kind of attitude is a must to succeed in this role.
If you have research experience in Quantum Computing, knowledge of software development and project management methodologies and/or have experience writing proposals for grant funding, you are an absolute dream come true but they aren’t imperative to get started in this role. You’ll pick up a lot of knowledge along the way.
