Scientific Project Manager (Quantum Chemistry) Location: Cambridge
As a Scientific Project Manager for Quantum Chemistry, you will report into the Technical Lead, taking responsibility for project managing and executing various scientific software and commercial initiatives. You will shape and drive projects through their full lifecycle, often supporting the business development team from pre-sales stage through to delivery.
What you will be doing:
Participating and leading in delivering multiple scientific projects.
Acting as project manager and client point of contact, for integrated projects.
Developing and implementing effective and efficient tools for the tracking and management of project tasks, activities and milestones.
Defining statements of work that include project scope, resource requirements, goals and deliverables by working closely with Clients and the relevant operational and scientific teams.
Attending, leading and providing input to teleconferences and face-to-face client meetings.
Leading project meetings and workshops, ensuring that clear, concise agendas are set and followed, with actions recorded and followed up.
Capturing, tracking and monitoring milestones from project plans, communicating movements of these milestones to the relevant audience(s).
Planning, controlling and executing projects including risk management, change control processes and documentation.
Working with other project managers to define tools, processes and methodologies to be used.
Organising and gathering information from across the business, giving recommendations to the scientific team.
What you’ll need to succeed:Essential:
MSc or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science or a related discipline.
Experience in a scientific project management environment, ideally involving software development
Experience in Quantum Computing Experience of writing proposals and project plans
Comfortable with using remote collaboration tools and digital project management software (e.g. Zoom, Slack, Trello, Jira, Confluence or similar software)
Excellent communicator in written and verbal form, both technical and non-technical
Problem solver / get things done attitude
Project management certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMI or APM).Experience in software development
